"Mutlu Yillar" (Happy New Year in Turkish)!
Top 10
- Apartment in Troisdorf. The girls loved sleeping in their hideaway attic and we all felt at home, especially when Herbert and Christine joined us for breakfast. Spending time with the Grimm family reminded Mike of his German roots.
- Rothenburg Village: a setting akin to a midevil fairytale. Aleah loved her visit to the teddy bear store and tour of one of the largest handcrafted Christmas ornaments shops in the world.
- Spending time with Alina and her family. It was great to step into her life for a few days. They were so hospitable- memories that will surely last a lifetime.
- German hospitality from Rolf (86 year old man who made a New Years Eve feast for us all). Even baked us cookies from a homemade recipe.
- Driving amidst the battlefield of fireworks on New Year's Eve. Germans make a night of it with all the firework displays- no banns to speak of.
- Visiting the Dom in Koln and time at Guffel Brewery drinking Kulsch beer and eating brats with sauerkraut. Unfortunately Christa's wallet was stolen from my purse so we spent the afternoon visiting the police at the train station (not on our itinerary) :-(.
- Hiking up the mountain to Konigswinter and seeing the view of the Rhein.
- Drinking Apple Vein, Hefeweizen and eating sweet treats from German bakeries.
- An afternoon in Koblenz walking along the Rhine.
- Visiting Tanta Trude, 96 years young and still has a sharp long-term memory.
A GOOD TIME WAS HAD BY ALL!!!!!
