It's hard to believe that our time here is coming to a close. As with any school year, it is filled with many events and activities. Last weekend we attended the Sports Award Ceremony. Sierra walked away with several awards- MVP player for three sports teams (soccer, volleyball and basketball) as well as the "balanced" award. This award is given to students maintaining an average 85% GPA or above and participating in 2-3 sports. Needless to say we were quite proud of her. Balance is all something we're trying to achieve on a moment by moment basis- and she's well on her way.
This Friday we celebrated the commencement of both girls as Aleah is now officially transitioning to middle school and Sierra to grade 9. There were some teary eyed moments for both Mike and I as I'm sure the next years will go just as quickly as the last. We were again reminded of just how invaluable this opportunity has been for them these past two years from the friendships they've made, the teachers they've had, and the worldly conversations and experiences they've engaged in. An education beyond measure.
We will soon be departing our home here, with a 10 day interlude to Uganda, Africa, where we'll visit the St. Paul and Mwebaza schools and see our African friends. We've also planned a four day safari while we're there. We'll be back just in time to celebrate independence day, an uncanny return date to remind us how fortunate we our with our freedoms and rights in America.
As far as employment, Mike and I have both secured principalships in great schools- Mike at Coyote Ridge Elementary, and myself at Fireside. We're looking forward to our new beginnings and the next chapter in our journey of life. It's a beautiful ride and we're so grateful for each and every day and the friends and family who enrich our lives.
Many blessings to all- we'll be seeing you soon.
